The Foundation’s Gift to Latvia’s Libraries
February 4, 2015
ABLV Charitable Foundation is presenting 671 art publications to more than 400 of Latvia’s public and art school libraries to augment their collections.
For several years now, the ABLV Charitable Foundation has organised a grant competition for the organisation of contemporary art exhibitions and events related to them, under the auspices of which the Foundation provides support for the development of contemporary art in Latvia. Under the auspices of the “Education” field, support is also provided for publications and series of articles on domestic and overseas contemporary art, artists, art collectors and developments in this realm. Thanks to the projects, one of the outputs of which is a book or catalogue, we have the opportunity to make a beautiful and valuable gift to the National Library of Latvia’s Support Society. This year, this gift is comprised of three colourful and quality art publications: “Arterritory Conversations No.3”, which are available in Latvian, Russian and English, the Daugavpils Mark Rothko Arts Centre’s catalogue “Latvian Contemporary Painting” and the “2014 Art Academy of Latvia Yearbook”.
671 publications will end up on the shelves of more than 400 of Latvia’s public and art schools, augmenting them with visually enjoyable and interesting content about the Latvian art world. Last year, 524 publications were delivered to libraries, presenting them with Gvido Kajons’ “Theme 011”, the catalogue from the international ceramic art symposium “LANDescape” and the “2013 Art Academy of Latvia Yearbook”.
