Recognition for the Foundation’s Contribution to the Promotion of Contemporary Art

March 12, 2015

On 12 March, “Diena” newspaper’s Сulture Awards ceremony for 2014 honoured some of the most outstanding and surprising art accomplishments of the past year. At the event, ABLV Charitable Foundation received the recognition of the Republic of Latvia’s Ministry of Culture and “Diena” for its major contribution to encouraging the interest of the general public in contemporary art and cultural values, as well as in their current trends both in Latvia and globally.

At the awards ceremony, Culture Minister Dace Melbārde emphasised that ABLV Charitable Foundation is one of the biggest supporters of culture and contemporary art in Latvia. The minister particularly emphasised the Foundation’s support for Latvia’s participation in the Venice Art Biennale, as well as its investment in the establishment of the Latvian Museum of Contemporary Art building.

In turn, AS “Diena” Chairman of the Board Edgars Kots expressed his appreciation of the highly successful collaboration between his newspaper and the Foundation in the development of the arts and entertainment supplement “Kultūras Diena and Izklaide”.

“It is no secret that only thanks to the support of the Foundation can we publish this supplement and thus offer our readers the latest cultural news,” stressed Edgars Kots.

It is worth mentioning that to date ABLV Charitable Foundation has supported more than 79 contemporary art projects, investing a total sum of EUR 508,433 and that the Foundation continues to facilitate the development of the field in Latvia, as well as its promotion overseas.
